Shelby is from Sandy Hook, Kentucky and is pursuing a mechanical engineering degree with a mathematics minor and certificate in aerospace engineering. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineerings, Tau Beta Phi (engineering honors society), and Christian Student Fellowship (CSF). She is a physics tutor at The Study and is co-founder and co-president of the Knitting Club.
