Adams, Lu and Young Awarded NASA Grant

October 10, 2016

ECE Professors Adams, Lu and Young have been awarded a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration entitled “Fast Computational Electromagnetic Methods for GEMINI”.

ECE Professors Adams, Lu and Young have been awarded a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration entitled “Fast Computational Electromagnetic Methods for GEMINI”. The grant will support the integration of computer modeling technologies and tools developed at the University of Kentucky within NASA’s Gemini simulation tool. Gemini is used by NASA to model electromagnetic field interactions within a variety of platforms and systems including launch vehicles, communication links, and signal propagation within the international space station. The UK team has previously developed tools for advanced electromagnetic modeling, and the integration of these tools within Gemini will enable NASA to more cost effectively analyze and design such systems. The effort will also support UK’s development of new simulation methodologies for the specific challenges encountered by NASA.
