On December 1st, 2017 PEIK held its end of the year advisory board meeting. This was an occasion for UK administration and PEIK faculty to present updates on academic curriculum, research and outreach developments. It was also a great opportunity for discussions and for gathering input from the PEIK board concerning opportunities for collaboration and educational needs of industry within the region. In person board participation included representatives from AEP Kentucky Power, Bluegrass Energy, EKPC, GE Appliances, LG&E/KU, Process Plus, Toyota, and S & C Electric.
A new PEIK advisory board member, Ms. Paula Guletsky, Vice President of Sargent & Lundy LLC, and a new PEIK faculty member, Dr. Simone Silvestri, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at UK, were introduced. Ms. Guletsky is a chemical engineering graduate from the University of Kentucky and has served in the power industry for 35 years. Dr. Silvestri recently joined UK from Missouri University of Science and Technology and his research areas include: cyber-physical-human systems, internet of things, smart grid security, and network management with direct applications to power and energy systems.
