Himanshu Thapliyal, associate professor and Endowed Robley D. Evans Faculty Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and graduate student Amit Degada, received second place in the Best Paper Award competition at the 39th IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE 2021) held January 10-12, 2021. ICCE 2021 is the IEEE Consumer Technology Society’s annual flagship conference, which brings together top professionals from industry, government, and academia from around the world.
Thapliyal’s paper was titled “2-SPGAL: 2-Phase Symmetric Pass Gate Adiabatic Logic for Energy-Efficient Secure Consumer IoT.” The conference received over 280 papers from across the globe.
“I am pleased that our research at UK on hardware-assisted cybersecurity of IoT devices is being recognized at the IEEE Consumer Technology Society’s annual flagship conference,” said Thapliyal.
Thapliyal’s research is supported through the NSF CAREER award he received in 2019. In 2020, Stanford University ranked him among the top 50 scientists throughout the world in the field of Computer Hardware & Architecture.
