Rouch Retiring After 33 Years at UK

Keith E. Rouch, P.E., professor in the University of Kentucky Department of Mechanical Engineering, is retiring at the end of the semester. Rouch has been a professor at UK for the past 33 years, and served as department chair for 12 years.

Keith E. Rouch, P.E., professor in the University of Kentucky Department of Mechanical Engineering, is retiring at the end of the semester. Rouch has been a professor at UK for the past 33 years, and served as department chair for 12 years.

Prior to joining UK, Rouch spent 19 years with Allis-Chalmers Corp. Rouch is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a registered professional engineer. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue University, and his Ph.D. from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rouch’s primary research interest is finite element methods in mechanical design. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 publications, and has five U.S. patents in addition to several international patents.

On November 16, Rouch delivered a final lecture titled “Farm to Industry to University – a 50 year Engineering Career.” In his presentation, Rouch discussed the key decisions and opportunities that arose over the past 50 years, from both a personal and technical viewpoint, as well as the transitions he experienced when going from a farm background to a college environment and, eventually, to industry.
