In 2020, the Alpha Epsilon team launched the 2019/2020 International Book Project (IBP) book drive. We donated and delivered books collected from several colleges and departments to the IBP, which aims to "promote education and literacy while broadening Americans’ understanding of their neighbors.” Local organizations such as Books in the Bluegrass and Local Donation programs benefit from our donations. Books in the Bluegrass has provided home libraries for Habitat for Humanity, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families. While the latter has provided books to "Title 1 schools, prisons, homeless shelters, after-school programs, library book-mobiles, hospitals, and other non-profit organizations in Kentucky.” This year we had the most participation since we’ve started rounding up excess and unused textbooks! Hopefully, we can reach out to more departments and colleges in the upcoming year as well.
