No, potential students can apply to be admitted in the Spring or Fall semesters. The program is not cohorted and students have the flexibility to select and register for courses to meet their schedule and individual needs.

No, you do not have to be in an industry-related job to be in the program. This program is open to full-time students as well as part-time students who are holding full-time jobs in industry, government, academia or those self-employed.

GRE is not required for admission to the program. However, note that GRE scores must be submitted if you intend to apply for any fellowships (some are available for full-time students, once enrolled in the program)

GRE is not required for admission to the program. See question above.

If you take all classes online, you will pay the resident tuition rate (regardless of where you live). Tuition rates can be found here. However, if you take any face-to-face classes, you will be required to pay the non-resident tuition rate.

If you are a domestic student, you can be living anywhere in the country and enroll to take online classes and complete the MFS degree entirely online. International students who are on an F1 visa must be on campus and are allowed to take one online course per semester; the rest of the courses must be taken in the face-to-face mode.

Please note that currently, the online program is not available for international students. International students can apply to the program and follow it on-campus. While on campus, F-1 international students can only count ONE online class toward their minimum number of credits required to maintain full-time status each semester. If a student only needs one course to complete the program of study in a given semester, the course cannot be online.

Your recommendation letters can come from faculty members, current employers, or former employers.

No. The recommendation can include the form, a letter, or both, at the writer’s discretion.

The specific pre-requisites will depend on the courses taken by the applicant in prior programs. Therefore, preparatory courses are recommended following a review of the applicant’s transcripts. The Director for Graduate Studies for the Manufacturing Systems Engineering MS program, in consultation with the admission committee, will make the recommendation.

The program has four core courses all students are required to take. The remainder (4 or 6, depending on whether one chooses the thesis or, project option, respectively) can be selected from the variety of courses that meet individual interest to obtain a specialization along that area. There are no specific, pre-defined tracks in the program.

Adobe Connect is Flash-based conferencing software. With a webcam, headphones and a mic, you can participate in conferences, classes and meetings virtually. For basic information on how to use it, a video is also available here.

Yes. This is the final exam before the student is awarded the MS degree and he/she will be required to do it in person.

Yes, this is the plan. However, not all Lean courses will be offered online due to the need for interaction/hands-on activities in some courses. These are electives and a student can complete the degree by taking other elective courses.
