A new IEEE Student Branch Chapter of the Power and Energy Society (PES) and of the Industry Application Society (IAS) has been recently established at UK.
Chemical engineering junior K’Lynn King was named Miss Black & Gold, and electrical engineering junior Savannah Lewis was named Miss Gold (first runner-up).
The $147,750 award is from Advanced Technology International.
Dan M. Ionel, SPARK and PEIK Director, electrical and computer engineering professor and L. Stanley Pigman Chair in Power, will serve as the principal investigator.
Cheung received the honor for “contributions to multimedia data processing with application to autism interventions.”
The research will utilize the capabilities developed at UK for the large-scale co-simulation of buildings and electric power distribution systems.
The five-year grant will fund research into novel video-based approaches for detection of autism risk in the first year of life.
The next event will take place in Hartford, Connecticut.
The conference was held November 3-6, 2019 in Brasov, Romania.
